My Not So Perfect Life - Sophie Kinsella
Katie Brenner has the perfect life: a flat in London, a glamorous job, and a super-cool Instagram feed.
Ok, so the real truth is that she rents a tiny room with no space for a wardrobe, has a hideous commute to a lowly admin job, and the life she shares on Instagram isn’t really hers.
But one day her dreams are bound to come true, aren’t they?
A book about someone losing their job? Yes, please! It was always going to be a good laugh for me since I seem to have a reputation of getting sacked, or just picking the wrong jobs altogether.
I love, love, love, love this book! The way that it shows from a first-person view the lies of social media is brilliant. Everyone has seen someone's Instagram post that makes them feel like they're wasting their lives compared to the fun their friends are having. And My Not So Perfect Life faces the issues of being fake over social media with full force - and it covers the pressure to seem perfect just to fit in, which everyone is guilty of.
It was so funny, with Katie's lovable narrative. It was one of those books that made me really not want to go into work, but it is also a great book to settle down with after a stressful day.
This was my idea of a perfect book. It has everything I want in a book - comedy, relatable topics, mad twists, and that little bit of romance.
But please buy from local bookshops if you can!
